Opico has announced that Robbie Polson will step into the role of commercial director, following time as development manager and within sister company Stocks Ag.
According to the company, Robbie was instrumental in bringing the distribution of the Alpego and Ovlac brands to Opico, and comes to the new role with an understanding of the people, brands, dealers and customers across the Opico portfolio.
The new role encompasses the management of the UK sales team, alongside strategic planning as part of the senior management team.
“I have always been interested in agricultural machinery,” Robbie says, “Throughout my teens, spending my holidays and free time learning about agriculture, working on all types of farms, and using different types of machinery. This made working in agriculture the obvious choice, I knew it was where I wanted to focus my career.
“During my career, I have developed a strong knowledge of the UK market and my various roles have allowed me to gain worldwide experience through travelling further afield buying and selling farm machinery.”
James Woolway, managing director of Opico and Stocks Ag, added: “Robbie’s experience and enthusiasm for the industry combined with his commercial acumen was a key factor when promoting him to the commercial director role.
“His fresh approach has already helped OPICO evolve to the changing UK market and he has been instrumental in the integration of the new brands into our business. I am confident he will lead the way in developing dealer and customer relationships going forward.”
