The National Association of Contractors (NAAC) and the British Society of Plant Breeders (BSPB) have partnered to launch a new initiative, encouraging new entrants into the seed industry and agricultural contracting.
The organisations have drawn up careers information to give new entrants a starting point when it comes to looking for opportuntiies.
Commenting Jill Hewitt, NAAC chief executive said: “The seed industry is often overlooked, but seed production, planting and processing are key elements of food production and there are numerous rewarding opportunities from seasonal work to longer-term career prospects.
“We have provided several case studies from enthusiastic members of the industry, to showcase just a few of the roles that are available. We are looking for a range of staff from research through to machine operators and we would encourage anyone interested in shaping the next generation of food to get in touch!”
