Titan International has debuted its Goodyear Optitrac LSW1400/30R46, the world’s largest farm tyre, at the Farm Progress Show 2016 in Iowa.
The 1400 tyre’s section width measures an impressive 1400mm, making it not only the largest product in the company’s agricultural tyre portfolio, but also internationally. The tyre is designed as an alternative to tracks or conventional dual configurations on large four wheel drive tractors – offering the best combination of flotation, traction and ride quality.
Specifically suited to high-horsepower 4WDs, this larger footprint and Extreme Flotation design gives farmers a number of advantages, including reduced soil compaction, which is especially valuable with heavier machinery; and a greater load capacity compared to standard R1W radials at the same inflation. Vitally, the improved traction also leads to less time in the field and reduced fuel consumption.
As the latest and largest addition to the line-up of Goodyear Extreme Flotation tyres, the 1400 also features Low Sidewall Technology.
With this technology, the tyre has a larger rim diameter than standard tyres – a design exclusive to Goodyear which improves lateral stability, maximising its performance. The overall width of the tractor is also reduced versus a standard dual configuration, which makes for much better performance on the road and an improved turn radius.
Chris Akers, managing director of Titan, said: “As larger farm operations grow, especially in Europe, farmers are looking for more efficiency from their machinery. The 1400 tyre is designed to maximise the performance and efficiency of today’s most powerful tractors.
“Tyres are far more complicated these days, and account for a larger percentage of a tractor’s running costs, but equally, they can deliver improvements in performance that have a real impact on the bottom line.”
The Goodyear Optitrac LSW1400/30R46 will be available by the second quarter of 2017.
