To combat issues with increasingly large agricultural trailers working on roads and in fields that have not increased in size, Fliegl has developed the SteerX system. Unlike existing systems, the SteerX option uses sensor technology which does not require coupling rods.
The sensor is mounted on the trailer and links to the tractor’s load-sensing hydraulics and ISOBUS connection. If the tractor is not ISOBUS compatible, the company also offers a cable harness and display.
Using data from the sensor, the optimal steering angle is calculated based on the inclination and driving speed,. Using this, the steering cylinder is moved into position. According to the company, this significantly reduces lateral forces when corning, protecting the axle and decreasing wear.
The system constantly monitors the parameters to adapt the system to high working speeds and unpredictable manoeuvres. There is also an extensive operating system with diagnostic and service functions.
