This Agritechnica will see Continental – best known for its tyre portfolio – highlight a range of new technologies under the banner Our Smart Farming, for your harvest of tomorrow.
Amongst the new products is a tractor-mounted Weed Control System, which uses artificial intelligence and boiling water to control weeds. Developed by Continental Engineering Services, it is based on optical sensor technology and supported by automotive-grade software.
The company will also enter the autonomous robot sector, with a greenhouse robot which can treat plants with ultraviolet light, selectively harvest crops and perform scouting activities.
It has been designed with Octiva and is being readied for sale next year, with the capacity to operate multiple implements 24 hours a day.
For harvesting, a new Raptor draper belt is said to offer greater protection against debris thanks to the patented cleat design – called the Edge Defender. The company claims that this will improve crop flow and significantly reduce the cost of ownership.
Retrofit options include the ProViu 360 camera system, which uses four High Dynamic Range cameras to produce a bird’s eye view of the vehicle. It features Pedestrian Detection, Clean Camera Assistant and Transparent Chassis technology.
There is also the NightViu LED working light package, offering 100 lumens per watt and flux options ranging from 1,500 lumens up to 4,5000.
