Andrew Ward MBE, of Heath Farm, will host the Cereals Event on the 11th and 12th of June, for the first time in 17 years.
The 52ha site will see more than 400 exhibitors, over 200 live demonstrations, a packed seminar programme and hundreds of crop plots.
“There have been huge changes in farming, some of the biggest since the Second World War,” says Andrew. “There’s tremendous pressure on producing food and being able to do it profitably. And while some of this can only be resolved at Government and policy level, which farmers have been campaigning for, there are also opportunities at farm level.
“No event is a silver bullet, but I would say that Cereals offers a lot to a range of arable and diversified businesses and their ambitions. Visitors can find the knowledge, technology and, importantly, the conversations that can help safeguard their future.”
New features for 2025
The 2025 event will include the new BASE-UK Regen Conference area, focused on the theme ‘Robust farming in a changing climate’. It will include a series of seminars and Q&A sessions that will explore how regen can fit into, and affect farm businesses.
Also new for this year is the Young Farmers Spotlight, held in partnership with the National Federation of Young Farmers, and the regional Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Clubs, and sponsored by Michelmores.
The programme will include a breakfast and a series of talks focused on key innovations, rounded out by a networking event.
In the agronomy zone, budding agronomists will be put through their paces in the Ceres Rural Crop Challenge. Teams of six students from leading agricultural universities will go head-to-head in growing and managing a winter wheat crop.
Old favourites will also return to the event, including crop plots; a refreshed Syngenta Sprays and Sprayers Arena and the NIAB Soil Hole.
Looking at machinery and the Drill Demos will return, with cultivation and seeding equipment on show, as well as the robotic and automation zone.
Early visitor numbers are up 25% proving that Cereals exhibitors and features provide a wealth of practical and technical expertise, says event director, Alli McEntyre. “Every year we learn more about what Cereals visitors want. This year’s line-up reflects all that feedback – we are absolutely committed to making the event even better every year.”
