Seven bulls were sold at the Dungannon Farmers Mart on the 24th of March, with an average price of £3,075, increasing the average for the year by £30.
The November 2021 born Drumlone Malcom sold for 4,000gns. A heifer calf, it was bred with AI and sired by Curaheen Wakeman and is out of Drumlone Kirsty. Earlier that day, the bull had won his class before becoming the Overall Champion. He was purchased by commercial breeder William Hall, Co Antrim.
Judge for the day, Andrew Patterson, said: “He was a very good bull which would stand up anywhere, a bull with great shape and a nice size.”
Two bulls made 3,100gns. The first was Dressogue Maurice, a Jully 2021-born bull sired by Islavale Invincible and out of Dressogue Clover. Maurice came second in the class.
Also making 3,100gns, Knockreagh Magic is the maternal brother of the 10,000gns Kilreagh Kilroy and was sired by Mullynock Gallant. This bull was also the first prize winner in the first class.
Not far behind was the October 2022-born bull Gortdonaghy Norman, which sold for 2,800gns, sired by Irish National Senior Male Champion Anatrim Bodybuilder and bred out of Kickhams Ginger.
