BKT has developed the Agrimax Fortis range of agricultural tyres, for high-powered tractors, following a series of requests and consultations with its end-users.
Designed for in-field operations, the radial tyre has a high flotation capacity for lower soil compaction and reduced rolling resistance to minimise fuel consumption. It has also been reinforced with the company’s Special compound, drawing on its work in the industrial sector, for greater resistance against cuts, tears and punctures.
It was tested on rocky Spanish and French terrain to assess its capabilities in tough conditions. The tests revealed that the new compound remained in good condition after 500 hours, whereas a conventional tyre would reportedly be seriously damaged after just 200 and require around seven repairs.
“First-hand accounts and feedback from our customers have proven really essential in developing the Special compound for Agrimax Fortis,” explained Piero Torassa, field engineering manager at BKT. “Each application requires a very specific product: this is why we work so hard to translate the needs of the various agricultural businesses into unique products. But it is not just a question of having greater choice available. Using the right tire is also sustainable and cost-effective since the product life cycle is extended, without therefore needing to replace it, and fuel consumption is reduced.”
