JCB has launched its fastest and most powerful model, with its new flagship Loadall telescopic handler: the JCB 542-70 AGRI Pro.
This new model has a unique combination of engine power and torque, acceleration, top speed and hydraulic power, for new levels of performance and productivity around the farmyard, in the field and on the road.
The 542-70 AGRI Pro, with its 4.8-litre DieselMAX engine, is 173hp (129kW) and has a torque of 690Nm. This gives the model a 24hp (17kW) or 16% increase on JCB’s current most powerful models, and a 15% increase in peak torque output of 690Nm at 1,500rpm.
Along with the DualTech VT half hydrostatic, half direct mechanical drive 50kph transmission, which provides precise and progressive control from hydrostatic drive up to 22kph, this new machine can generate 22% more dynamic tractive effort and 25% greater road travel productivity.
A hydraulic braking system with individual circuits for the heavier-duty 10-stud front and rear axles, supports the model with its additional power and speed, while air trailer braking is a factory-installed option. The AGRI Pro also automatically engages four-wheel drive when the brakes are applied, for short stopping distances, in addition to running in rear-wheel drive on the road.

Operators can employ the DualTech VT transmission’s Eco and Power settings, and use the Flex mode to separate control of engine and ground speeds for easy foot pedal control, and to work at low speeds while using sufficient engine revs to power a hydraulically-driven sweeper, straw processor or silage feeder.
For handling and loading work, operators can also exploit the Loadall 542-70 AGRI Pro’s 14% higher capacity hydraulics package, which comprises a 72cc variable output piston pump delivering up to 160-litre/min.
Other additional model elements include JCB’s Smart Hydraulics technology; a new auto-engage JCB Smooth Ride System; 500mm-wide tyres with stronger rims; shock and vibration-damping rubber spring and polymer damping mounts; and a host of further operator-minded extras.
JCB agriculture managing director, John Smith, said: “The Loadall design is already a world-beater in terms of performance and productivity, and now this new model takes materials handling capabilities to a new level with a standard specification giving the machine tremendous operator appeal while setting a new benchmark for loading, handling and towing.”
“With its outstanding combination of market-leading features, we characterise the Loadall 542-70 AGRI Pro as offering the best in ‘PRO-FORMANCE’ – with more power, more speed, more productivity to meet the demands of the professional operator.”
