In direct response to customer demand for high-horsepower forager harvesters, Krone has announced two new models: the BiG X 980 and the BiG X 1080, with the 980 being made available for the 2023 UK grass season.
Both models are powered by a Liebherr V12 engine, with an extended 1,000-hour oil change and service interval. They also feature a modified PowerSplit that enables the operator to customise engine power to requirements. An economical Eco-Power mode is also available, with X-Power when full engine output is required.
The crop flow assembly consists of six pre-compression rollers, a massive chopping drum and the OptiMaxx 305 and CornConditioner, offering a huge conditioning surface area for intensive grain and stalk processing.
Varistream is also integrated, consisting of a spring-loaded floor beneath the chopping cylinder and a spring-loaded plate behind the crop accelerator, which is said to minimise blockages and ensure a smooth crop flow. Krone has also added the VariLOC system, which enables the drum speed to be reduced from 1,250rpm to 800rpm while increasing the cut length by up to 50%.
The options list also includes the Lift-Cab function and the XtraPower system, which enables operators to book additional engine power for a limited period of time.
Operators can also measure and record nutrient levels in grass, maize and wholecrop with a dual-purpose NIR Control sensor. Both models also comer equipped with SmartConnect, a standard telematic unit for real-time data collection and transmission.
