Fendt has now introduced a new model in its rear-mounted mower range: the Fendt Slicer 860 rear-mounted mower – available with a tine or roller conditioner. It is available to order now.
New features of the Fendt Slicer 860 KC (tine conditioner) model:
- New cutter bar and adapted tine conditioner
- Longer tines for high throughput in heavy and damp crops
- Modified counter comb angle
- Easier to use comb height adjuster level
- Works at a reduce speed for increased fuel efficiency
New features of the Fendt Slicer 860 RC (roller conditioner) model:
- Ideal for the gentle conditioning of leafy crops
- Two rollers which are both driven to achieve a high throughput in heavy and moist crops; the lower roller is driven directly via the spur gear, and the upper moveable roller is driven synchronously via interplaying gears and universal joints.
- Contact pressure can be adjusted by means of a continuously adjustable spring
- Spring-loaded safety device protects against damage caused by foreign objects.
- RC DUO Drive direct drive is an option.
Both the Fendt Slicer 860 KC and RC models feature the TurboLift hydro pneumatic cutter bar relief system and specially shaped extension arms. The floating cut reduces contact pressure and allows the machine to follow the contours of the ground. Plus, the pendulum travel has now been increased to -19° to +30° for precise work in undulating terrains. Matched to the width of the front mower and the overlap to the rear mower, the Fendt Slicer’s working width is adjusted via two pins, without shortening the PTO shaft.
The 860 KC and RC are equipped with a tool box and a quick change blade tool as standard. The tool holds the mowing disc in the open position – independently – so the blade can be changed with both hands.
Safe machine use/transport and easy maintenance
The Fendt Slicer’s transport height is less than 4m. The mower’s integrated compensation cylinders prevent rocking and guarantee high ground clearance at headlands. The EasySwing mechanical collision safety system prevents serious damage form stones or other debris. If a collision occurs, the mower unit swerves upwards to the rear and then back into working position under its own weight. Plastic bumpers help to prevent light damage to the machine.
Safety guards hydraulically fold the Slicer 860, so the operator does not have to leave the cab. The front guard can also be locked in different positions by a lever, for simple access to the cutter bar for blade changes.
New spur gear cutter bar with large discs
For a straight power curve with high efficiency, the mower discs’ driving gears are arranged in a row and bolted throughout. At the transfer points, 3.5 teeth interlock to improve power transmission along the cutter bar.
The fully robot-welded construction of the trough and lid ensures maximum strength and increases the service life of the mower unit. Two lateral extensions and thick-walled material ensure high horizontal dimensional stability of the cutter bar. The maintenance-friendly design means that the mower unit, cutter blade and skids can be quickly replaced if necessary. The special connection of the blades to the disc allows a rotation of 360°, so blades can be used on either side.
Specially developed large mowing discs reduce the number of mowing modules across the mower’s entire working width. The large overlap between the cutting discs and the special profile of the discs, which creates a suction effect that lifts the crop before it is cut, ensures an even cut and clean crop-cut. Thanks to this flow effect, even heavy crops are transported cleanly to the conditioner, conditioned and then deposited.
The drive concept, which is consistently designed for efficient use of power, allows a reduced PTO speed of 850 rpm under good conditions. The overload protection and the integrated free wheel in the gearbox prevent damage to the machine.
