At a recent launch event, covered in our August and September issues, Kuhn Farm Machinery introduced the GF 13003, said to be the largest mounted tedder on the market.
With a working width of 13m, it joins the trailed version that was launched last year. Its mounted design places the weight of the machine on the rear axle of the tractor, minimising slippage when working on hillsides and increasing accuracy and stability.
Rhodri Jenkins, grassland product specialist, said: “For users after increased output from a mounted tedder, the GF 13003 offers improved manoeuvrability and the ability reach fields through narrow lanes and gateways. The clever design means all 12 rotors fold into a 2.99m transport width and a 2.67m transport height, while the tedder features just one gearbox and two hydraulic valves for simple operation.”
To reduce losses on the headland, the Oblique settings pivot the two outer rotors rearwards, ensuring that all grass is thrown back into the cutting area. This function requires no additional hydraulic supply.
As standard, uprated arms and heavy-duty tines are mounted on the Optitedd rotors, reducing servicing and maintenance. The company further suggests that its asymmetrical tines are expected to last twice as long as the previous generation, while also improving performance between the rotors.
“Further developments on the GF 13003 include rotor wheel deflectors as standard to prevent grass build-up around the wheels and column. This is especially useful in long crops and young high-sugar crops that tend to wrap around the wheels during operation,” added Mr Jenkins.
Proven Kuhn features complete the package, including Headland Lift Control to raise the outermost rotors above the sward on headland turns, and the Digidrive maintenance-free rotors, available as an option. Prices start from £42,965.
