Pöttinger has highlighted the potential flexibility of mounting its Tegosem 500 cover crop sowing unit on a Terrasem mulch seed drill to apply a companion crop or micro granular component during standard seed and fertiliser drilling operations.
Mounted in front of the seed hopper, the pneumatic Tegosem 500 is easily accessible using the Terrasem loading platform and can be used for a wide range of applications.
In addition to the surface application of cover crops, in which a companion crop such as grass is sown between the tyre packer and the counter rail, the Tegosem can also feed the additional product directly into the Terrasem metering system, utilising the single shoot process. This means fertiliser and micro-granules can be deposited with the seed.
Changing between surface application and the single shoot process is done by switching two distributors in the seed line.
Seed distribution on the Tegosem is pneumatic and can be controlled using the in-cab terminal. Metering is started and stopped by the central metering system on the Terrasem drill, with different metering wheels for large seeds and fine seeds.
In addition to being mounted on the Terrasem machines, Tegosem units can be fitted on the company’s range of Lion power harrows, the Terradisc disc harrow or the Synkro stubble cultivators. This avoids unnecessary passes to complete the sowing process.
