The latest 5m-wide trailed pneumatic drilling combination from Pöttinger, available from October 2021, is said to combine high output with greater flexibility to suit a range of sowing systems. Its trailed configuration is said to reduce the power requirement, while uniform weight distribution is provided by the lower link arms and rear tyre packer.
The Aerosem VT comes with a newly developed 2,800-litre hopper, divided 50:50 for seed and fertiliser application. The configuration of the hopper and the compact chassis is said to give the unit excellent manoeuvrability, with an integrated tyre packer reducing the overall length while also consolidating the soil. The packer is also hydraulically dampened to allow for high operational speeds.
A new pressurised metering system can reportedly handle the highest application rates, with each side of the drill having individual metering feeding the same single shoot seed line. Both metering systems can be adjusted independently, allowing for different application rates based on two different application maps, or the simultaneous sowing of two products.
It feeds the Dual Disc double disc coulter system, with up to 60kg downwards pressure and a 30cm offset to handle trash and plant residues. Even at high driving speeds, the V-shaped slot is said to stop the seed from rolling.
