A year on from its launch, the Gen 7 Fendt 728 Vario has undergone a DLG Powermix test, measuring performance, efficiency and fuel consumption and has come out on top.
“The 728 now stands out as the tractor for leaders in farming. It has the best combination of power and economy, enabling operators to work more efficiently on the road and in the field. It is the ultimate allrounder,” said Fendt’s Richard Miller.
Compared to other machines tested in the 240-305hp range, the 728 was shown to be the most economical. Consumption was shown to be 242g/kWh (+ 24.2g/kWh AdBlue) in the field, 15g less than the comparable competitor.
During transport, at 40kph the 728 showed a fuel consumption of 332g/kWh (+ 33g/kWh AdBlue), a significant saving of 16g/kWh when compared to other brands in the segment. At 50kph, it increased by just 4g to 336g/kWh (+ 33g/kWh AdBlue), while at the maximum 60kph, fuel consumption was just 338g/kWh (+ 33g/kWh AdBlue).
“For operators covering high road miles the fuel efficiency of the 728 Vario will mount up and, with fuel prices rising, this will provide significant savings. For contractors harvesting and transporting crop long distances it represents a sound investment,” added Mr Miller.
To test tractors, the DLG evaluates fuel and AdBlue consumption under typical workloads on a rolling bench to demonstrate efficiency. Twelve in-field load cycles are used, as well as two for transport to provide an aggregated score.
“Fendt occupies five of the top six tractors in the overall history of the DLG PowerMix. Prior to the 728 Vario achieving this accolade, the Fendt 942 Vario with exhaust emission level V offered best value with 237 g/kWh when tested in 2019. Our mission is to provide the power needed to complete challenging farm tasks with the operational efficiency to reduce time and fuel consumption,” concluded Mr Miller.
