As part of a company-wide drive to incorporate new product development and more trials and research projects, UFAC-UK has appointed Mike Aldrich as mill manager at the manufacturing and production facility in Rutland.
UFAC-UK, supplier to the animal feed and nutritional supplement manufacturer, has appointed Mr Aldrich to head up an eight-strong team as part of an ongoing client-focused restructuring. The Leicestershire site has recently undergone major upgrades to increase storage capacity and install a new low-energy heating system. It has included the extensive use of recycled materials, including reduced polymer bags, recycled packaging and the use of reduced timber pallets.
All of which is underpinned by ongoing product advancement, building on more than 40 years of innovation in the development, manufacture and supply of energy, protein and Omega 3 nutritional solutions to the animal feed industry.
Robert Jones, UFAC-UK managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike to the team at this exciting time for UFAC-UK, following our significant investment in our production facility.” He reports that the family-owned company is aiming to increase production efficiencies and reduce the carbon footprint of the business alongside the investments being made in equipment and facilities.
Mr Aldrich has a long-standing history in the food production, processing and animal feed sectors. In addition to taking responsibility for product quality, productivity and efficiencies at UFAC-UK, he will also take charge of hygiene and health and safety to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
He said: “I am looking forward to helping to drive UFAC-UK’s competitiveness, with a focus on sustainability and efficiencies, to help move the business forward.
“I will also be looking at what we as a company can do to drive sustainability, productivity and efficiencies both within our own operation, but also on behalf of our partners and customers.”
