The Voluntary Initiative (VI), an industry led programme which promotes the responsible use of plant protection products, has announced that the National Register of Sprayer Operator (NRoSO) scheme will be administered by BASIS, as of January 26, 2023, following a tender process.
City & Guilds, the vocational education and apprenticeship foundation, has run the NRoSO scheme for the past 20 years, and the VI would like to thank City & Guilds for their contribution to the scheme – which has ‘significantly improved best practice and knowledge across the UK sprayer operator base’.
Now in the hands of BASIS, VI have said that the process of implementing the development of a new database and user interface has already begun, so NRoSO membership and CPD point registrations will continue as the service moves to BASIS’ management. BASIS also already has a proven track record of administering professional agricultural databases on behalf of membership organisations and are ‘fully prepared to assist NRoSO members during the changeover’.
