With just a month to go until Cereals, we attended the Crop Plot preview day and, alongside our sister publication Agronomist & Arable Farmer, interviewed the companies exhibiting their new varieties.
Ceres Rural is managing the agronomy on site. In two interviews, partners Ed Hutley and Jock Willmott, discussed how the mild winter has impacted crop growth on-site and provided advice on what farmers should be looking at when making key establishment decisions over the coming years.
“Finding crops that are financially viable and sustainable is difficult in the current climate, however, Cereals offers a good opportunity to look at different crops and pass information back to clients,” said Mr Hutley.
He added: “A lot of people will be in a relatively comfortable position this autumn, however, there are concerns about next year and we need to put forward sustainable solutions.”
Six practical steps that can be taken to develop a more sustainable or regenerative approach to farming practices are being highlighted by Ceres Rural at this year’s Cereals Event.
The Cereals Event will be held near Duxford, Cambridgeshire on 8-9 June 2022. For more information or to purchase tickets visit the relaunched website at www.cerealsevent.co.uk.
