Best of Utility – multipurpose tractors with more than 70hp; maximum four-cylinder engine; maximum operating weight 10,500kg and maximum wheelbase of 2,550mm
Bringing its Arion 400 range up to meet Stage V emissions regulations, Claas has introduced a new flagship model, the Arion 470. It boasts a four-cylinder engine rated at 140hp and boosting to 155hp. Torque levels top out at 631Nm which is available at 1,500rpm.
Power is put to the ground through a GIMA mechanical robotised gearbox with a choice of four or six powershift gears for 16×16 or 24×24 forward and reverse speeds. The shuttle is hydraulic and the maximum road speed is 40kph, achievable at 1,800rpm.
One of the key selling points to the 470 is the range of options, boosting its functionality across a range of tasks. This is perhaps most obvious with its hydraulic system, with four different flow rates available. Base models come equipped with a 60 litre per minute open-centre system, which can be increased to 100 litres per minute. Load-sensing hydraulics are also available, with flow rates of 110 or 150 litres per minute.
Machines with open-centre hydraulics also feature an independent steering pump. Across the range, spool valves can be mechanical or electronically controlled, with two or three mechanical rear valves, two or four electronic and two electronic valves at the front.
Lift capacity at the rear is either 5,750kg or 6,250kg and the 470 can be specified with a front linkage that can carry 4,300kg. The electro-hydraulic PTO offers speeds of 540rpm and 1,000rpm, with the option to add a 540ECO mode. If a front PTO is specified, this runs at 1,000rpm.
For operator comfort, there’s the option of mechanical cab suspension and hydraulic front axle suspension, as well as the inclusion of a pneumatic driver’s seat, the choice of manual or automatic air conditioning and an overall noise level of just 72 decibels.
New features for this generation include LED work lights, a new operator station and the possibility to adjust hydraulic responsiveness. For loader work, there is also the option of a panoramic roof to increase visibility.
It’s also possible to equip various smart farming systems, including Claas Telematics, ISOBUS functions, automatic PTO and four-wheel drive engagement and front loader detection.
