Livestock farmers in England and Wales are reminded that the deadline is looming to complete the annual Sheep and Goat Inventory.
Completing and submitting the Annual Inventory of Sheep and Goats is a legal requirement as is recording the number of sheep and goats on a holding in the on-farm register.
“Failure to do so may result in a cross compliance penalty and could increase your chance of a farm inspection in the future,” warned Beth Hanson, a graduate surveyor with Berrys.
“It is important that you record all your sheep and goats of which you are the owner of by location. Sheep should include breeding sheep, rams, ram lambs, store and finished lambs, cull ewes/rams and other sheep.”
In England the deadline is Saturday December 31 to record the number of sheep and goats on your holding(s) as at Thursday, December1.
In Wales the paperwork is yet to be sent to farmers, but deadline is usually early February to record the number of sheep and goats on the holding(s) as at January 1.
