Demand from the foodservice sector in Singapore could present significant opportunities for UK beef exports to the region, according to EBLEX.
EBLEX, the beef and lamb division of the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), highlighted the versatility of Quality Standard Beef to the sector at an event with local and international chefs cooking different recipes, giving their take on traditional and new cuts.
Guest of honour His Excellency British High Commissioner Antony Phillipson gave the opening address, ahead of a butchery demonstration focusing on use of the forequarter to maximise use of the carcase.
The event was organised by EBLEX, with the support of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC).
Susana Morris, EBLEX export manager, said: “Beef production in the UK is among the most sustainable in the world. With around 7,000 foodservice outlets in Singapore, there are huge opportunities for the export of high value cuts of quality beef to the sector. “The event gave delegates the chance to find out more about UK beef production through direct contact with key EBLEX staff and UK exporters, as well as highlighting how chefs can make the most of different cuts.”
