Deutz-Fahr has reinforced its commitment to medium sized farms with the launch of the new C6000 series combine harvester, designed for farmers who wish to control their own harvesting programme.
The introduction comes at a time of significant investment by Deutz-Fahr in its harvesting product range, following the launch of the high capacity C9000 series in 2013 and the C7000 series last year.
Since purchasing the former Duro Dakovic plant in Zupanza, Croatia in 2005, the company has invested 2.5m euros per year in harvester manufacturing, introducing six new ranges and increasing sales volume by 295%.
The plant now produces 400 combines per year, employs 388 people in the peak season and covers a total area of 240,000m2. Recent developments have included expanding the capacity of the painting line, which can accommodate a complete combine chassis, and increasing the number of components that are produced in-house – some 70% of the machine is fabricated by Deutz-Fahr, including the cab.
There are 14 development staff in Zupanja and another four at the company’s headquarters in Treviglio, Italy, ensuring that products are always at the cutting edge of technology.
This is reflected in the new five straw walker C6205, which like the larger models in the range features styling by Giugiaro Design.
It also uses an advanced threshing system with optional turbo separator and a cleaning system with the innovative Deutz-Fahr double grain return (DGR) system.
With a diameter of 600mm, the threshing drum is comprised of eight robust bars bolted to five supports. The turbo separator can increase the working capacity of the combine harvester by up to 20% in heavy crops or demanding conditions.
An optional segmented concave offers easy adjustment to different crops and working conditions and the segments which can be easily replaced without removing the combine feeder channel.
Cleaning effectiveness is boosted by a ventilation system with a large diameter cross-flow turbine, which blows air across the entire width of the combine harvester.
The DGR improves the performance and efficiency of the threshing system while reducing losses. The return material is sent back to the grain preparation pan through two lifting channels, avoiding overloading the drum.
C6000 Series combines are powered by Deutz-Fahr’s fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, which meet Tier 4 Final – the Deutz TCD L6 T4F 6.1 L engine delivers a Nominal Power of 230 HP (169 kW) and a Maximum Power of 250 HP (184 kW).
The highest levels of driving comfort and ease of use are offered by the new Evo II Commander Cab with a soundproof interior and a modern air conditioning system.
Threshing, header and unloading functions are now electronically controlled via the new Commander Stick, for simple and intuitive operation. The Combine Control Management (CCM) display allows the operator to verify the quality of work at any time, presenting key information about the combine’s activity at a glance. Two new large inspection windows give a clear view of the grain tank from the cab.
An instructor seat and the optional 21 litre portable fridge complete the ergonomic and comfortable working environment.
A range of headers are available in 4.20m, 4.80m, 5.40m and 6.30m widths and the cutting system incorporates the patented tandem Schumacher Easy Cut II knife. Autocontrol manages lateral flotation of the cutting bar to enhance precision, especially at wider cutting widths.
Growers with a large acreage of oilseed rape will appreciate the choice of a cutting header extension with two vertical side knives that can be installed on the cutting bar to harvest rapeseed or the new VARICROP variable header available in working widths of 4.50m, 5.50m or 6.50m with an adjustable cutting table.
The generous grain tank has a capacity of 7,000 litres, and the unloading auger can swivel level with the cab for improved accuracy when loading trailers.
